Yogscast MBTI personality chart

I've been interested in MBTI for a long while, because I'm also skeptical of personality tests... but I've found MBTI to be distinct from the others in one critical way: its complete transparency. There's nothing mysterious (or even all that psychological) going on behind the scenes: Each letter means something very simple, the meanings are plainly-stated, and the final 16 types are merely condensations of those letters (and their more-obvious interactions). Indeed, if you know what the letters mean, you can easily figure out your type without even having to take the test!

So, let's try analyzing you! We'll go from easiest to hardest:

  • N vs. S & T vs. F --- You are definitely NT---a man of ideas and possibilities, who prefers to approach things logically. Though only 3% of the population fits the NT-Conceptualist supertype, I think every single one of us is on Reddit ;)

  • E vs. I --- This spectrum isn't about sociability or how outgoing a person is, it's about whether one tends to focus more on outward things (like people), or on what's happening in their own heads. For an NT to successfully manage a large group of people like the Yogscast, you'd almost have to be an "E"---you'd need that people-focus to avoid losing your head in the clouds (and an NT's "clouds" are by far the easiest to get lost in---just ask any INTx-types you know... or listen to one of Parv's philosophical rants ;) ).

  • P vs. J --- The final letter defines how you approach the world: whether you're more comfortable going with the flow, or if you prefer to take active control of events. There's no doubt you're a good leader, and so it might seem obvious that you'd be a control-oriented J-type... but consider some of the things you've said about how you manage the Yogscast: how you're able to be in so many videos because you take a back seat to let the others make the jokes, or how a lot of what you do involves enabling others to express their creativity as best they can. Good J-type leaders are responsible and reliable, with a hand always on the wheel; conversely, good P-type leaders have been described as "engineers of human systems", creating environments that promote independence and freedom (at the cost of stability). That being said, I'd still go with J for you (I can't imagine the Yogscast surviving without someone's hand on the wheel)---but closer to the middle of this spectrum than any of the others.

So, in conclusion, I'd say your test results were accurate: ENTJ---but closer to ENTP than to any of the other types, by a fair margin.

(combine an "I" with an "NT", and you get someone who trends away from people skills in

For an NT to manage a large group of personalities like the Yogscast, you'd have to

There's certainly an issue with people who fall very close to the arbitrary dividing line in each category, but the vast majority of people find it very easy to identify where they fall on at least some of the traits.

For example, take J vs. P: This spectrum (And I had you pegged as ENTJ as well
