I have a small dog and my family is insisting on getting two pit mixes for christmas.. what can I do to protect my dog?

Oh I agree 100%. One of my family members had gotten a dog about a year ago that had mental issues from not getting enough oxygen as a pup, and is very very territorial and vicious. (Not pit to clarify). Instead of giving the disabled pup the training and proper care he needed (honestly should be cared for by a professional and not by a random pet owner in my opinion) they just tell them "no" and it does nothing to change his behavior. I asked them what would happen if he was to ever attack someone and he told me he'd get him a muzzle.

I wish no ill will on the dog or the future pit puppies, but to say I get paranoid and worried about the harm they could cause is an understatement and I hope everything runs smoothly while I'm here. But I'm especially worried for my own pup as she loves to play with all dogs, and doesn't understand when the other dog is being genuinely aggressive.
