Skyrim Modding Contest 4: Dungeons

What does "overhaul" a vanilla dungeon mean? Are there a minimum amount of changes that need to be made in order for it to meet the "overhaul ' requirement and be acceptable?

If someone simply wanted to add a chicken to Bleak Falls Barrow and upload it that counts. Keep in mind that such low effort, while humorous, will probably receive no actual votes. Effort is directly proportional to chances of winning.

Are you prepared to disallow an entry with the reasoning being' that's not an overhaul - all you did was x, y, and z to the vanilla dungeon'?

Nah, I wanted to keep this as open to interpretation as possible. Again I'm not too worried about someone putting in minimum effort to a vanilla dungeon. If someone wants to do that they can, they just better not have high hopes for winning.

This addition to the rules basically negates the requirement that an entry must have been started within the contest period, because you are allowing entries that could be simply tweaks to existing dungeons, but not allowing entries of brand new dungeons that may have already been started on.

Mmmm I disagree. Here's the way I see it...a new, unique, well planned dungeon is far more likely to win than any vanilla dungeon overhaul. Any vanilla overhaul that stands a chance of winning is going to really have to pull out all the stops to compete with the new unique stuff. Players have played the crap out of vanilla dungeons. They want new.

That being said, a vanilla dungeon overhaul that stands to compete with a unique new dungeon is going to take quite a lot of work...and in that light the rule still stands: that work must be started and completed within the time frame of the contest. A few tweaks to an existing dungeon will not cut it.

I truly believe that the votes will show this to be true. If I'm wrong so be it...it is, after all, just a fun little contest...but I'm really quite sure I know what I'm talking about.

If you decide to disregard my points and leave the rules vague and somewhat contradictory, at minimum you should require entries that are "overhauls" of vanilla dungeons to clearly be labeled as such when submitted, lest someone think that the relit vanilla dungeon was created from scratch in a few weeks.

I hope my response is not seen as disregarding your points, rather providing counterparts to portray my perspective on this. I will be happy to add a rule saying that any vanilla dungeon overhaul must be marked as such :)
