Race Thread: NCWTS UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, starting at 1:15pm EDT on FOX Sports 1 (NCWTS17)

Yes/no.

Chase Elliott got his chance because of who his father is. But, he also comes across as humble and appreciative of what he has been given.

Dale Earnhardt Jr got his chance because his father gave it to him. But, he also comes across as humble and appreciative of what he has been given. For years, he almost came across as bitter that he wasn't just treated as another driver.

Ross Kenseth is getting chances in part because of who his father is. But, he is also being forced to work for it.

Paul Menard is in Cup because of his father's sponsorship. But, he also comes across as indifferent to everything and incapable of showing any emotion, whether it is positive or negative. It's actually pretty funny.

John Hunter Nemechek is driving for his father, but they're still forced to be humble and appreciative. I mean, let's be real.

Ryan Blaney is getting his chance in part because of who his father is. But, he comes across as not only humble & appreciative, but quite shy.

It really isn't nepotism so much as how they react to their situation and how realistic they are about it.

First, it would do wonders if Richard Childress, Austin Dillon, and Ty Dillon could be realistic when talking about them. Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon did not earn their way through the ranks like others have and they really need to stop pretending otherwise.

Austin Dillon winning in the NCWTS is not the same as John Hunter Nemechek winning in the NCWTS. Richard Childress supplied top equipment to Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon every step of the way -- from short-tracks to NKNES to NCWTS to NXS. I mean, RCR created a NCWTS program just for them and shut it down when they moved on. The first time in Austin Dillon's entire career where he did not get the best equipment in the field was when he debuted in the NSCS.

Now, has Austin Dillon taken advantage of his opportunities? Absolutely. He deserves credit for that. But he also needs to be realistic when he talks about what opportunities he was actually given. He had a successful Cup program at RCR dedicating their butts off to get him a NCWTS championship -- the guys he was competing against in Johnny Sauter and James Buescher did not have that. No one else did in the NCWTS.

If they admitted that and came across as appreciative of that, they'd get the same amount of hate as any other random driver. But instead, fans just have Austin Dillon's smirk imprinted into their memories.
