My Problem with the Chinese New Year Colorways

Well I'm pretty sure that they're black and red because roosters are usually black and red and they are supposed to be inspired by the look of a rooster. I agree that it's dumb that they made them all black and overlooked a fairly major flaw in the design, but if you get offended by every commercially available product that directly references other cultures and markets them to people that are not of that culture then you're going to have a bad time. I mean I don't look at the Redskins or American Spirit cigarettes and get pissed just because I'm native american, I don't go off on a little rant if a grocery store is selling challa one isle away from bacon and shrimp just because my mother is jewish. I can see how you feel that they're trying to profit off of a culture that they didn't really put much thought into, but I see that more as a company being ignorant and making a dumb mistake rather than them trying to just profit off of a culture that they didn't really think of (also I guarantee that at least one asian saw this before mass production since they're such a huge company it would literally be impossible to not have an asian worker see it and at least not mention anything). Going back to the whole black thing, this is just speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that it was designed with the name "Year of the Rooster" in mind (calling shoes CNY editions is fairly recent, most companies used to call them "Year of the [Animal]" shoes) but after the success of the CNY UB from last year they decided to instead put all of the shoes that they made to release on the lunar new year be part of the same pack, this is further backed-up the fact that the Stan Smith and Superstars from the collection utilize the same feather-like material, showing that they were more inspired by the animal itself, whereas the UBs are primarily red with the exception of the cage which isn't even really black but more of a clear charcoal.
