The answer to this is all around you and can be seen in the actions of some very wealthy people. I really can't talk too much about it because I'm tired of being financially punished for spilling information to random people on the internet who won't believe it anyway, but I jokingly made a post before deleting it about the elite leaving the planet after they turn the planet into something that would rival Venus. This is not the case, because the most influential people calling the shots actually have traumas in their past that make genocide/extermination of the species absolutely unthinkable to them. In fact, they want the total opposite. They want human beings to have a 0% chance of ever allowing another rise of the Nazis, they want secularism, they want unity among all the people of Earth...even if people have to be socially engineered to do so...There is a great deal of knowledge unavailable to the public and it will remain that way until humans as a species are deemed worthy to the big players, which they currently are not. There are people out there who don't care if we had anti-matter power plants, terraforming technology, interstellar/wormhole travel, A.I./human cyborg interfacing, etc. They would just use it all to kill each other with more pizzazz. Technology wouldn't solve mankind's problems, it would just present us with one really big one whereby we have to decide to commit the ultimate sin and either eradicate those who can't come forward into the new world, something not on the table, or leave them behind as a permanent blight on our species history with the permanent possibility of someone bringing those left behind the technology anyway and letting them spread their barbarism across the cosmos.
