CMV: Arrogance is a virtue

Some people mistake pride and self-respect and adhering to high standards for arrogance. You seem to be doing that a bit. Or at least you're granting those people their interpretation of arrogance. So that's one thing. Virtuous behavior is virtuous even if it's mistaken for arrogance. You're also prizing, it seems, the stuff that actually puts the arrogance in arrogance - the shitty attitude, superiority, psychological defensiveness, the "doing away with people and leaving them in the gutter". None of that ego-driven "me vs. the world" shit is necessary for happiness - in fact it's detrimental to it. You can find arrogant pricks who are materially successful. You won't find any who feel happy, fulfilled, and at peace.
