As someone who has followed this thread closely since day 1, I want to add a couple of things that I don't believe have been mentioned.

First, some of you still subscribe to the doom and gloom scenario because the hacker(s) posted personal information about the two outed individuals. How could they have gotten that information from an AM user? There are a variety of ways this would be possible, but here's one that hasn't been mentioned. One could simply pose as a female on the site with some stolen pictures, and after a few short message exchanges one would be able to coax at least some guys into revealing enough info to ID them. Hey what's your personal email so we can talk off AM? Let's not waste money, can you host? Ok great, I'm on my way, what's your address? You get the idea.

Second, I keep coming back to the initial release. The hacker(s) express such confidence, including the claim that one new individual would be outed each day. What's happened since the initial release? Not jack shit! Making such claims while not being able to back it up just makes the hacker look like someone who can't backup their claims/threats.

Given the above, I see two scenarios as most likely. The hacker doesn't have much (maybe usernames and passwords -- along the stuff contained in the swappernet file) and has already played his/her hand. It had an effect -- damaged AM (perhaps irreparably) and scared this shit out of users. Alternatively, even if the hack was thorough, it is striking that nothing else has been released in light of the hackers initial claims. To me, this suggests that the hacker is on his/her heels. Such a person or persons is looking at real time in a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison if caught. So, they could have bailed on the plain to avoid the risk. Or they might be in hiding. Or they might already be in custody. Lots of possibilities here. Whatever the case, some of you need to step back from the ledge until we have more information that warrants flipping out.
